How to Remove Location (GPS) From Photos Before Sharing

Phone cameras save the GPS coordinates inside each photo. Share the file by email, messenger or a forum and anyone can see where it was taken — often your home.

Open the Remove photo metadata (EXIF) tool → Free, nothing is uploaded

On iPhone

In the share sheet, tap Options at the top and switch off Location before sending. To stop recording locations entirely: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera → Never.

On Android

In the Camera app settings, turn off location tags (the name varies by phone, e.g. “Location tags” or “Save location”). Google Photos can also remove the location from items you share by link.

Clean files you already have

  1. Open Remove EXIF and drop the photos.
  2. Choose All metadata or GPS location only.
  3. Download the cleaned files — JPG and PNG are cleaned without re-compressing, so they look identical.
