How to Convert HEIC to JPG on a Mac (4 Easy Ways)
Macs open HEIC natively, but websites, Windows users and many apps still want JPG. macOS has several built-in ways to convert — here they are, fastest first.
Open the HEIC to JPG tool → Free, nothing is uploaded
Method 1: Finder Quick Action (macOS Monterey and later)
- Select one or many HEIC files in Finder.
- Right-click → Quick Actions → Convert Image.
- Choose JPEG, pick an image size and click Convert to JPEG.
The JPGs are saved next to the originals.
Method 2: Preview
- Open the photos in Preview (select several to batch them).
- Select all thumbnails in the sidebar, then File → Export Selected Images (or File → Export for one).
- Choose JPEG as the format and set the quality.
Method 3: Photos app
Select photos in Photos, then File → Export → Export Photos and choose JPEG as the photo kind. Use this when the pictures live in your Photos library rather than in Finder.
Method 4: in the browser
The HEIC to JPG converter works in Safari, Chrome or Firefox and lets you set the quality, remove the GPS location and download everything as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
